Funeral mass will be Friday for Bob Coppens, 88

Bob Coppens, age 88, died Saturday, March 26.

Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a proud man who always made family his number one priority. He was the hit of the party and the best joke teller.

Bob was a worldwide traveler and a great connoisseur of fine food and drink. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also loved music, history, movies and reading.

Bob was a devout Catholic and patriot.

He is survived by his children Candace (Kirk) Reed, Chris Coppens, Carrie (Jim) VanZwol; grandchildren Racheal Buell, Robbie Coppens, Lexi Zuyddyk, Francesca Reed, Christopher Coppens ll, Dillan VanZwol, Daltan VanZwol, Dawson VanZwol; great-grandchildren Kyle, Kamryn, Reggie, Juniper, Kinsleigh, Wolfgang, Hattie, Koen, Peregrine, Thatcher, Lux; siblings Nancy Corrigan, Judy (Larry) Crittenden, James (Tess) Coppens, Larry (Jeanie) Coppens; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Coppens; son, Robert Donald Coppens ll.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave., Wayland, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

In memory of Bob, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for future Masses in Bob’s honor at Saints Cyril and Methodius.
