Phillip Edward Nickels Sr., age 77, died Thursday, April 10.
Phil was devoted to his family and had a great appreciation for each family member, his church family at St. Therese Catholic Church, and the Wayland community.
Phil was a 1966 graduate of Wayland High School.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Nickels; children Phillip Nickels Jr. (Steve Andrews), Keith Nickels, and Kimberly Nickels (Mark Hodyna); grandson, Leo Nickels; siblings Patricia Wagstaff, Kathleen (Alex) Vanderweert, and Edward (Jane) Nickels Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Nickels; mother, Barbara Nickels; brother, Dennis (Carol) Nickels.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Phil, contributions may be made to Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
