Former Leighton fireman Marty Nagel’s funeral set

Martin G. “Marty” Nagel, age 66, died Thursday, April 28.

Marty was born in Moline and worked as an electrician until he retired in 2018. He was a volunteer for the Leighton Township Fire Dept. He loved to work on his tractor and cars, take road trips, and volunteer at his church.

Marty is survived by his wife, Deb; children, Chris and his children, Jacob, Savannah, Seleia; Sarah and her children, Ethan, Elizabeth; Jennifer and her children, Abigail, Elijah, Anthony; Dorothy; Deb’s children, Jon (Liz) and their children, Tori, Torena, Grace, Lance; Melanie and her children, Jacob, Taylor, Ella; Melissa and her children, Beauden, Wylie; brothers and sisters, Ken Nagel, Richard (Mary) Nagel, Leonard (Judy) Nagel, Barb (Greg) Kok, Bea Nagel; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Nagel; and sister-in-law, Sandy Nagel.

The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St., Cutlerville. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Moline Christian Reformed Church, 4341 Chappell St., with visitation prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Rev. Duane Nieuwsma will officiate. Interment will be in Hooker Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Moline CRC Benevolent Fund.
