Duane Calvin Vanderploeg, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 14, at his home in Martin.
He was born Oct. 27, 1948, to Johanas and Bertha (Scholton) Vanderploeg. Duane was a self-employed builder.
He is survived by his children,, Michelle Vanderploeg and Joe (Michelle Wells) Vanderploeg, His partner of 18 ½ years Darlene Wiborn, her son Jon (Kelsey) and her daughter April (Gabe), grandchildren Chelsea (Kyle) Charlie, great grandchildren Harper, Kennedy and Brantley, his sister Judi (David) Oglesbee and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Colleen and his siblings, Jake Vanderploeg, Cornelius Vanderploeg, Gerald Vanderploeg, Alice Kraima, Shirley Knowlton, Alvin Vanderploeg, Josephine Vanderploeg, Henry Vanderploeg, Bonnie Earl and Simon Vanderploeg as well as his dog Duke.
Visit with family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 120 South Woodhams St., Plainwell. Duane’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the same location. There will be a graveside committal service at East Martin Cemetery and a luncheon at the Martin United Methodist Church.
