Dorothy Anne Funk, 82, of Hopkins, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Green Acres of Wayland.
Dorothy was born in Allegan on April 16, 1936, to the late William and Mary (Callahan) Hoffman and was the wife of the late Richard “Dick” Funk. She was a graduate of Allegan High School and went on to pass the Insurance Bar.
She worked at United Bank and United Bank Insurance, formerly Wayland State Bank, for 25 years; most of those years as secretary to CEO Arthur Johnson.
Dorothy was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she had served on the Altar Society. She also volunteered on the Election Board for Watson Township.
Spending time with her family camping and traveling was a favorite pastime for Dorothy. She loved to remain active through golf and bowling leagues and playing card games with friends. Dorothy liked to spend her quiet time reading and crocheting; she made baby blankets for all her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband of sixty-four years, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sheryl Funk; and siblings, Rosemary Murray, Margaret Miller and Tom Hoffman.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. The service will take place at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

I had the privilege to work with Dorothy for many years at United Bank. She was always professional and efficient in every task she undertook. Over the years she learned my style or communication and she could anticipate my needs remarkably well. We were a pretty good team. I hope her family realizes how much she called them all.
