Funeral Tuesday for ‘Dottie’ Zeerip, 77, of Dorr

Dorothy “Dottie” Zeerip, age 77, died Thursday, Oct. 17, following a stroke.

She is survived by her children Mandi (Pete) Phillips, Jamie (Shawn) O’Connor; grandchildren Kayla Phillips and Aideen O’Connor; brother, Paul (Betty) VanDam; sister, Shirley Dewys; brothers- and sisters-in-law Russ (Fran) Zeerip, Jane Rockhold, Mary (Don) Sal, Marcia Zeerip, Mary Jo Zeerip, and Joan Zeerip, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Zeerip, and parents Gerald and Joy VanDam.

Dottie was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She started her career in cosmetology at a young age, then put that aside to have a family and help her husband on the farm.

Later in life, she became a food server at Hopkins Public schools, where she enjoyed being around the kids and forming friendships with coworkers. In retirement, she loved getting together with friends and family members for lunches.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St.,with visitation from 10 to11 a.m. prior to the service.

In memory of Dottie and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to In Touch Ministries or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
