Thomas Charles Damber, 81, of Dorr, died Wednesday, July 5, at his home with his family at his side.
Born March 15, 1942, in Cheshire Township, he was the son of the late Joseph William and Esther Louise (Pergande) Damber and was the husband of Donna Jean (Genther) Damber.
Thomas worked for the majority of his life as an electrician/maintenance technician. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed relaxing by going fishing. Thomas loved watching westerns on TV and listening to old country music. He was a talented guitar and banjo player as well.
Thomas could easily, and happily, be described as a homebody. There was nowhere he would rather be than home surrounded by the ones he loved, and he found special joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Thomas had a soft spot for babies and always had to be the first to hold them whenever a new one would come along. Later in life, he fell in love with his Lord and Savior and his heart softened. Thomas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides Donna, his wife of more than 58 years, he is survived by his children, Connie (Peter) Weber, Michelle (Ken) Demann, Tommy (Tami) Damber, Kelly Dewey (Joe Klein) and Timmy (Elisha) Damber; siblings, James Damber and Mary Ann (James) Galiger; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Damber and John Damber.
The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 10, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11. The service will take place at the funeral home at 11 a.m Tuesday at and burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery.
