Funeral will be Jan. 12 in Hopkins for Glenn Reed, 93

Glenn Earl Reed Jr., 93 of Hamilton, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at the University of Michigan Health-West Hospital in Wyoming.

He was born May 15, 1929, in Muskegon, to the late Glenn Sr. and Clarbelle (Mack) Reed. Glenn worked in construction most of his life but was also considered quite the handyman.

He enjoyed traveling, especially in the Upper Peninsula, where he loved the beautiful landscape and fishing. He enjoyed his country music and being surrounded by his loving family, whether at home or at his “other home” at Sandy Pines.

Glenn tried to remain active, so in his later years, when it was harder for him to get around. He enjoyed tooling around on his electric cart, typically with a grin on his face and possibly a great-grandchild on his lap.

He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Dorothy; his son, Jeff Reed of Wyoming; his daughter, Lori (John) Gates of Burnips; two grandchildren, Tammi (Steve) Hamm of Holland, and Mindi (Ryan) Maycroft of Allegan; three great-grandchildren, Myrtle Hamm, Maebel Hamm, and Josie Maycroft; one step-grandson, Steve (Jess) Elhart of Kentwood,  and two step great-grandsons, James Elhart and Lucas Elhart.

Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. His memorial service will begin at 4:30 with, Pastor Ronnie Ewing officiating. Glenn will be laid to rest in Salem Township Cemetery directly following the service.
