Karen S. Ballard, 66, died Tuesday, Aug. 23.
Karen made many lifelong friends while working at Byron Center State Bank for more than 35 years. She and husband Doug enjoyed special vacations with her sister, Donna. Karen especially enjoyed gardening, and reading to and spending time with her grandsons, Lincoln and Emerson.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Doug Ballard; children Steve (Alicia) Ballard, Jeff Ballard; grandchildren Lincoln and Emerson Ballard; sister, Janice (Tom) Vandenberg; many brothers- and sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wayne and Loretta Flora; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kent Sweet; and niece, Rebecca Sweet.
Visitation with Karen’s family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, with one hour of visitation prior at Moline Baptist Church, 4428 Chappell St. Luncheon will follow at the church. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Moline Baptist Church or Christian Neighbors in Wayland.
