Funeral will be Tuesday for ‘Koko’ Hall, 50, of Dorr

Nieko Lee “Koko” Hall, 50, of Dorr, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 13.

Born Jan. 22, 1968 in Allegan, she was the daughter of Joan and Alan Heslinga. Nieko possessed a happy and fun-loving spirit. She loved to get in the car and head out on road trips with her friends and her family. Going to the beach was her favorite destination; she would lay out for hours “getting her brown on” and drinking Diet Coke.

Nieko was happiest of all, however, when she was with the ones she loved. She was a dedicated and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Besides her parents, Nieko is survived by her son, Nicholas (Shantel) Selvig; siblings, Anita Hall, Wallace (Tracy) Hall, Shocko Hall, Isaac Heslinga, Jaime (Chad) Sauer and Melanie Heslinga (Ciara Jacobs); dear friends, Debby Harvey and Marci Powers-Kaczanowski; two grandchildren, Reese and Elijah and one grandson on the way, Jaxtyn; nieces and nephews, Sam Powers, Elijah Otto-Powers, Isiah Otto-Powers, Kamarie, Keegan, Jaiden, and Rylan Sauer, Beau Hall, Shocko Jai and Savante Hall; and Chumlee, her basset hound best friend

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lena Selvig; her niece, Ashley Rose Powers; and her nephew, Ronald Jay Powers, Jr.

The family will receive friends at Hopkins Community Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at which time a funeral service will begin. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist Nicholas and his family with expenses.
