Robert Walter Schutz, age 38, of Shelbyville, died Friday, April 7.

Bob was born on Sept. 25, 1984, in Hastings to Frank and Ola (Johnson) Schutz. He attended Thornapple-Kellogg grade school and was a 2002 graduate of Gwinn High School.

Bob always had a good heart and owned many Fords throughout his life. Bob was very mechanically inclined, enjoying working on his cars and was a skilled welder. He loved teaching his son, Hank, how to fix cars and develop skills for himself. Bob spent time working in Alaska on the pipeline, an experience he enjoyed. Most recently he worked in the maintenance department at Baypoint Inn.

Bob loved being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. In his younger years, Bob was involved with dog sled racing.

Bob is survived by his children: Madison Schutz, Hank Schutz; parents: Frank and Ola Schutz; siblings: Shannon (George Krenner) Green, Jeff Schutz, Jason (Jada) Christensen, Amanda (Kevin) Washburn; nieces and nephews: Kellyn, Jamie, Chloe, Johnny, and Jessi.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Christensen.

Relatives and friends may meet with Bob’s family from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steve Olmstead officiating.

Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider Bob’s children’s future needs.
