Harvey Bentheim Bleeker, 87, a 1947 graduate of Hopkins High School, died Tuesday, June 14.
Born Sept. 9, 1928, in Diamond Springs, Mich., to Gerrit and Hazel Dannenberg) Bleeker he started working in farming and married Jackueline Brocker. They raised their three daughters on the family farm in Bentheim and were members of Bentheim Reformed Church.
During the Korean War Harvey was in the U.S. Army and stationed in Berlin. Harvey retired from farming and working at Kroger, and he and Jackie then split time between Bentheim and Texas.
In 2002, Jackie preceded Harvey in death.
He is survived by his daughters: Sandra Lovett of Goleta, CA, Carroll and Jack Zimmerman of North Carolina, Karen and Richard Larson of Dorr; grandchildren: Mandy Compagner, Russell Bullock, Autumn Lovett; great-grandchildren: Madeline Ruhl, Dexter Ruhl, Lili Bullock; sisters: Doris and Richard Miller, Arlene and Earl Kleinheksel, Laura and Harvey Veldhuis; in-laws: Marilyn Brower, Jo-Ellen and Herbert Beadle, many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Bentheim Reformed Church, 3997 38th Street, Hamilton, 49419. Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm, Tuesday, June 21, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Burial will be in Bentheim Cemetery.
