Funeral is June 11 for Dennis Muczynski

Dennis “Jaja” Muczynski died Satuday, May 3, at his home in Dorr.

Dennis was born to Chester and Theresa “Helen” (Zukowski) Muczynski on March 30, 1950. He met his wife of 53 years, Roxie, while they both worked at the Grand Rapids Press. Dennis had an impressive career as a journeyman mailer with the Press, where he retired after 38 years.

Dennis enjoyed taking his wife and kids fishing and camping. From being on the water, baiting hooks, and camp fires, he appreciated the outdoors.

Another favorite hobby was washing and polishing his or friends’ vehicles. He loved it so much, he polished his own S-10 Chevy’s fender down to bare metal, trying to get that perfect shine!

He taught others the value of a dollar by cashing in returnable cans, frequently, using the refunds to get slushies with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Roxie (Greenawalt) Muczynski; children Sally Hinkle and (Keith White), Valerie VanKlompenberg, and Dennison (Jenn) Muczynski; siblings Diane Okke, Denise (Tom) Hunter, Lee Greenawalt, Wade Greenawalt, and Rex (Gloria) Greenawalt; grandchildren Dylan (Emily Timmer) VanKlompenberg, Mitchel VanKlompenberg (Sophia McDonald), Kaleb Syswerda, and Gabby Muczynski; and great-granddaughter Eleanor VanKlompenberg.

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents Chester and Theresa (Zukowski) Muczynski.

Dennis’s memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, in the Wayland United Methodist Church, 200 Church St.
