The Wayland City Planning Commission will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, to discuss a special land use request from General RV on Reno Drive near the U.S.-131 expressway.
General RV wants to expand by as much as 44 percent in area, including a building, 145 parking slots, 36 customer parking spaces and display bays. The business, which deals in recreational vehicles, not long ago won approval from the city for expanding its displays along the expressway.
General RV, located on Reno Drive east of West Superior Street, was granted permission to expand its display of vehicles at its site in September 2012, allowing it to display 10 more units along 70 feet width, with visibility from the U.S.-131 expressway.
Planning Consultant Janis Johnson from the firm of Wade Trim won’t be able to be at the special meeting, but she told commission members and City Manager Mike Selden that she would have her report on the plans ready for their use. Johnson will be on vacation, but will be back by the next regularly scheduled Planning Commissio0n, which will be July 14.
The Planning Commission on June 23 will consider General RV’s request and attempt to decide if further deliberations are needed for a meeting on July 14.
