O-K Gold leader East Grand Rapids thrashes Wildcats 42-0

paul-and-masonThe euphoria from the thrilling 30-27 win over Forest Hills Eastern faded a week later when the Wayland varsity football team was blown out 42-0 at East Grand Rapids.

The host Pioneers, leading the O-K Gold Conference now with a 4-0 record, scored all six touchdowns and six booted extra points in the first half and then used a running clock the entire second half to bring the game to a swift conclusion.

The Wildcats now are 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the the league. The bad news is that it won’t get much easier in the last two contests. They will end league play against Grand Rapids Christian and then square off in nonleague play with Forest Hills Central, a team that was thrashing perennial powerhouse Lowell Friday evening until losing at the very end..

Mr. Young: my son takes offense to your comment that he had a “highly contagious disease” as it leaves a negative impression of him. Additionally, the viral infection he had No affect on this game with EGR. He was cleared to play as of Monday, October 3rd and was no longer contagious for this game and had no relevance to tonight’s game against EGR.
