It was the Red Wildcats vs. the Green Wildcats Thursday in a non-league tussle, and the Greens prevailed.

Wayland defeated Northview 4-1 to run its softball record to 18-4 overall.

Sophomore mound ace Madi Ludema came through again, limiting Northview to four hits, walking one and striking out two. She helped her own cause, collecting two hits and two RBIs.

But the most stellar offensive day was turned in by junior Harmony Laker, who went 4-for-4 with a couple of doubles. Leadoff hitter Hannah Rairigh unloaded a double and a triple for the ‘Cats, who collectively had 11 hits.

Wayland scored twice in the opening inning and added single insurance runs in the fourth and seventh innings.

The Wildcats remain unbeaten in the O-K Gold Conference standings. Their doubleheader against Kenowa Hills was postponed by inclement weather,

Northview, with the loss, fell to 15-13 for the season.
