Wearing protective facial masks will no longer be required of patrons who visit the Gun Lake Casino, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Casino officials announced in a Facebook post that masks worn during the Covid-19 pandemic will be recommended, but not required, for customers. The new policy will apply to food service and table games.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday, Feb. 16, changed its recommendatiosn to mask up in high-risk gatherings.
Gun Lake Casino officials remind the public the facility is owned and operated by the sovereign Gun Lake Band of Potowatomis and therefore is not subject to state guidelines. However, they have chosen to abide by best practices as recommended by state and federal health agencies.
