Gusty winds follow rains, cause scattered outages

The rains subsided Friday, but high winds of between 40 and 50 miles per hour kicked in afterward, causing scattered power outages and the downing of tree limbs. This one at left made traveling on a rural back road somewhat challenging for motorists. The Yankee Springs Township Fire Department reported Friday that it a radio tower fell on top of a local residence. Another tree visited a more urban setting, on Maple Street in Wayland, but no one was hurt in the incident. Yet prognosticators promised a very nice weekend, with temperatures climbing into the 70s.

  1. Another city tree that has caused property damage to a home owner’s house. This home owner just had his roof replaced last year. Two months ago I made comment on TB about now is the time of the year they should be removing bad trees and branches, and this branch had a big rotten spot. Thankfully no one was hurt, but I guess that’s what they’re waiting for. There’s no excuse why these trees can’t be taken care of properly. Trimming a few limbs in the summer time won’t cut it!
