The Henika District Library at 149 S. Main St., Wayland, turns 125 years old this year.
The corner-stone was laid for the Henika Ladies Library on Saturday, Oct. 14, 1899.
The public is invited to join a celebration of more than a century of serving Wayland City and Wayland Township from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
There will be cupcakes, sparkling cider, photos from the library’s past and staff-led historic tours of building.
Congratulations on another quarter century of providing library services to the greater Wayland community! It seems barely a few years ago my board of directors and staff were planning the centennial celebration for this valuable community resource. My best wishes to all who partake of the celebration!!
