Henika District Library Coordinator of Projects, Technology and Community Outreach Christina Golm has accepted a new post as director of the Newaygo Area District Library.
Golm, who earned her master of library science degree at Wayne State University, has been with Henika since April 2011. She has been awarded an Accessible Libraries For All (ALFA) Fellowship and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
The ALFA Fellowship program, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, enabled her to learn how to better help people who are blind, hearing impaired, or who have physical disabilities to effectively use information technologies. She was one of 30 ALFA Fellows selected nationwide.
As a project for her fellowship, Golm found, submitted and received a Reinhardt technology grant of $5,500 for the Henika District Library. The grant funds are being used to purchase five laptop computers for a training lab that will be used by older adults and others with minor to major disabilities.
She will be director for a library that serves a community only somewhat smaller than Wayland, about 45 miles north of Grand Rapids.
