It must have been a sort of Redemption Day Monday for the Hopkins track teams at the Comstock Invitational.
After somewhat disappointing O-K Silver Conference meet performances Friday, the Viking boys bounced back to win the title trophy with 114 points while the Lady Vikings captured second place with 127, just behind Centreville.
A couple of strong individual performances by juniors Todd Henley and Trey Collins helped carry the day for the Hopkins boys. Henley took first in the 1600-meter run in 4:50.8 and won the 3200 with a time of 10:46.42. Collins won the pole vault by clearing 13-6 and the high jump at an even six feet.
The tandem of Nolan Hugmeyer, Henley, Dan Rausch and Zach Nutter took the top spot in the 3200 relay in 8:51.97.
Earning runner-up slots were Nutter in the 800, 88, only two-thirds of a second off the pace at 2:10.9; freshman Logan Klinge in 110 hurdles 16.71 and in the pole vault.
Collins was second and Dylan Perry third in te long jump and freshman Josh Tew took third in the discus.
For the Lady Vikings senior Jasmine Fisher won the 1600-meter run in 5:47.46 and Savannah Emaus cleared 10-0 to take the pole vault and won the long jump at 15-4.
Freshman Grace Brenner earned her first first in the shot put at 30-03 and Shannon Henshaw was second in both the shot and the discus, the latter in which Faith Roys was third.
Earning seconds were Emma Helder in the 800,
Olivia Barry in the 100 hurdles, and the 400 relay team of freshman Alex Jackson, Anna Washburn, Kelsey Dusseau and Paris Corneille.
Jackson picked up a fourth in the 300 hurdles
The 3200 relay team was third with Fisher, Alyssa Beilby, Mary Wells and Helder.
