The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team absorbed its fourth straight defeat of the season Tuesday night, 66-51, in a nonconference encounter at Grand Rapids West Catholic.
The Vikings won their season opener, 77-37, over Maple Valley, but since then failed to score more than 55 points in each of the four games they lost, to Hamilton, Allendale, Comstock Park and now West Catholic.
Hopkins now is being coached by Nate Mitchell, who took over for the resigned Darrin Smith after the loss to Hamilton in the second game of the season. Smith had just started his fifth season at the helm.
The Falcons, with the victory, improved to 2-3 on the season.
No further details of Tuesday night’s ballgame were made available.
