Hopkins boys rally to defeat Belding, stay in 2nd place

The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team cemented its claim on second place in the O-K Silver Conference Tuesday night by outgunning Belding 25-6 in the fourth quarter to claim a 52-38 triumph.

The victory lifted the Vikings to a 9-4 overall season record, 7-2 in the league standings, only behind  conference unbeaten Wyoming Godwin Heights.

Unfortunately, the Hopkins girls’ team did not fare as well, losing 51-43 to a Black Knights’ squad they edged 48-46 earlier this season.

Senior forward Olivia Sebright led the Lady Vikings with 12 points and 8 rebounds, sophomore Mady Weber chipped in 11 points 6 rebounds 6 steals and sophomore Maya Kerber counted 8 points.

The Hopkins teams Thursday will play Calvin Christian.
