The HopHopkins Chamber Choirkins High School Chamber Choir Saturday received a high enough score in the district solo and ensemble festival to qualify for state competition in April.

Hopkins students took part in the district festival Saturday at Grand Valley State University. They performed two choral pieces in front of an adjudicator/judge. The Chamber Choir received a variety of comments, which highlighted both areas of needed improvement, as well as their strengths within their pieces.

The State Solo & Ensemble Festival will take place Saturday, April 16, at Portage Central High School.

The Hopkins Chamber Choir has consistently received an “Excellent” rating at the district festival level for almost a decade.

“This, in large, is due to the high level of dedication, commitment, and overwhelming perseverance of the students and families within the Vocal Music Department,” a school district spokesperson commented.
