imagesA community prayer ceremony in response to recent sad events in Hopkins is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 22, in the downtown park by the fire barn.

The Hopkins United Methodist Church posted on Facebook, “Hopkins has been a sad place the past couple weeks. In response to that, on Sunday, March 22 at 6 pm, everyone is invited to join in prayer in the Hopkins downtown park by the fire barn (if rain we will meet in the town hall.)

“This is open to church members, community members, families, neighbors, youth groups, pastors…anyone able and willing to pray for our community. We will be praying for our students, the hurting families and friends, school staff and our fire and police departments, etc.

“Please come and join us and share this information and encourage everyone you know to join us on the park. If you are unable to join us in the park, please join us in prayer at 6:00 from wherever you may be.”

Hopkins has lost local citizens earlier this month, including a mother and her two children in a triple homicide and a a 14-year-old girl.
