The Hopkins High School Concert and Chamber Choirs both earned Division 1 “excellent” ratings in the District Choir Festival Feb. 25 at Marshall High School.
Each choir performed two contrasting pieces, as well as sight-read, for a panel of judges. Choir students then received feedback from those judges on numerous musical elements of their performances. That feedback highlighted both strengths, as well as areas of potential improvement, within each choir’s performances.
As part of the process, choirs that perform that day are also given an overall rating/score. Because of their Division 1 ratings, both ensembles have qualified for the State Choral Festival.
If choir students, as a group, choose to participate in State Choral Festival, that will take place at the beginning of May at Hope College.
