After nearly 30 years protecting citizens of the Hopkins Area Fire Department, local firefighters said goodbye to Engine No. 411. Custom built by Spencer Manufacturing in South Haven, 411 (originally E11), began service at Station 1 in the Village of Hopkins, before taking post at Station 2 in Watson. Often affectionately dubbed a “fireman’s engine,” 411 was a low-frills workhorse, serving as a front line engine for its whole life with the Hopkins Fire Department. “We tend to get attached to our trucks,” siad a department spokesperson. “While we are sad to see her go, we appreciate the next phase being given to her by Spencer Manufacturing.”
