Hopkins Public Schools Saturday held its first-ever My School Color Run, which is similar to the popular Color Run 5k, in which participants are sprayed with different colors as they move through the route. Hopkins had 139 people signed up for the race, many of them students. Participants received a T-shirt and color packet to throw at the end of the race. A raffle with many donated items was held at the end of the race. Bottled water was donated from CD’s Quik-Mart and granola bars were available for participants as well. The color run brought in more than $3,000, which will be split between the Kaelee Noble Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors and the family of Dawson Babiak, as he continues to receive treatment for leukemia. There are plans to make this an annual fund-raiser.
