Hopkins Girl Scout leads ‘Caps for a Cause’ recycling drive

Heidi Gilder, a student iGirl Scout Gildern the Hopkins school district, is leading the charge in a Girl Scout project to recycle plastic caps.

Gilder appeared before the Dorr Township Board Tuesday night to talk about the “Caps for a Cause” effort in which she has encouraged people to drop off plastic caps and lids at bins at Dick’s Market, the Dorr and Hopkins libraries, the CD store in Hopkins and Perrigo in Allegan.

She said she already has collected 239.4 pounds of plastic, but she wants to meet the goal of 400 pounds to fill 80 buckets of the materials. She also needs to raise about $200 to help pay for turning the plastic into a bench that will be donated to a Hopkins elementary school.

Gilder has a Facebook page for more information.

  1. Thank you for sharing Heidi’s Gold Award project. Actually, Perrigo is not a drop off location. An employee there is collecting with his coworkers for Heidi.
