The Hopkins girls’ basketball team closed out its O-K Silver Conference season Friday with an 8-2 record with a 55-39 victory at Belding.
The Lady Vikings were surprised by Belding in the early going, as the two teams were tied 22-all with just a minute and a half left before intermission. However, they went on a 10-0 run for the rest of the half and pulled away on the scoreboard afterward.
Senior point guard Kennedy Helderop led the offensive attack with 29 points.
Hopkins, which finished in second place in the league behind NorthPointe Christian, will play a non-league contest at home against West Catholic, taking a 12-6 overall record into the game.
The Lady Vikings will play at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, in the opening round of the Class B district tournament at Hudsonville Unity Christian, taking on the host team.
