The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team finally put to rest its troublesome 10-game losing streak Monday night by edging NorthPointe Christian 68-65.

The girls, however, lost to the O-K Silver Conference leading Mustangs 38-26.

The Viking lads came back the next night and lost to league-leading Sparta 70-40. They now own a 1-8 record in the Silver and are 5-12 overall.

The girls had their league record lowered to 5-4 and 6-9 overall after a 36-32 defeat in overtime to Sparta, which they beat in January.

The Martin boys’ basketball team lost 61-27 to Zion Christian to fall to 0-16 for the campaign.

Wayland also lost Tuesday night, 57-46, to Cedar Springs and its record slipped to 2-14.

The Viking girls and boys will return to hardcourt action Friday night at home against O-K Silver rival Kelloggsville.
