All three local public school districts will be closed Monday, Jan. 20, one for the anticipated inclement and frigid weather conditions and two for professional development days.
The Hopkins school district’s day off will be the result of weather. Martin and Wayland called off school for this day quite a while ago for teachers’ professional development.
Monday, Jan. 20, also is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honoring the late civil rights leader’s birthday, a legal national holiday.
Area news outlets have been reporting that temperatures will dip into the single digits with wind chills going as low as 10 to 25 degrees below zero on Monday and Tuesday and perhaps even into early Wednesday.
