Hopkins rallying around ailing school board member

Friday is Hat Day district-wide at Hopkins Public Schools, as teachers will ask students and community to donate to the Ryan Family. Board of Education member Karen Ryan is battling multiple myeloma. Hopkins Middle School parents are looking for donations of pop, bottles of water, and candy for field day. They will be sold for prizes and all proceeds will go toward the Karen Ryan fund-raising effort. “Medical expenses can be overwhelming and these funds will help offset that burden,” a spokesperson said.
