Hopkins schools to begin strategic planning process

The Hopkins Board of Education and administration have luanched a new initiative to guide the local schools through a 3-5 Year Strategic Planning Process.

The purpose is “to help the district develop goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for the students, while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way,” according to Superintendent Gary Wood. “Stakeholder feedback is an important part of the planning process. Community members, parents, teachers, administrators, students, teachers and other district staff members will be asked questions regarding strengths, areas to improve and vision for the district.

“This information will be shared at a planning retreat as well as other data regarding student performance and comparison to other districts.

Wood said the school board is interested in public input to this process and intends to use data and stakeholder input to make decisions and to set priorities for the district.

Dr. Rod Green, consultant from the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), will facilitate a planning retreat. The online survey for the process is found on the school district website and at the following URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018HopkinsSP Please click on the link and fill out the survey.

“We are excited about this process and are confident it will ultimately help the district be more successful in its mission of educating students,” Wood said.
