The Hopkins varsity softball team lost two of three encounters Saturday in the Silver Division of competition at the Gull Lake Invitational.
The Lady Vikings lost 7-6 to Williamson, 5-2 to Coopersville, but pulled out a 4-3 victory over Paw Paw.
Sophomore Hannah Brinks was the winning pitcher in the Paw Paw game, giving up three runs, six hits, walking two and fanning six.
Peyton Roxbury collected two hits, Brinks added another with two RBIs and Ava Vanderkolk and Madison Schwartz stole multiple bases. Brinks came up with a sacrifice fly to break a tie in the fifth inning.
The Lady Vikings had 11 hits against Coopersville, but still lost. Brinks and Cami Hibma both drilled three hits for Hopkins and Madison Washburn added an RBI.
Brinks absorbed the loss on the mound, giving up five runs, seven hits, walking three and striking out five.
The Vikings lost on a seventh inning walkout in the final game, against Williamston.
Catcher Lyla Reynolds had three hits, including a double. Hopkins had 13 hits, with Reynolds and Brinks each getting three and Reynolds and Vanderkolk drove in a couple of runs.
Freshman hurler Gracie Stallard yielded seven runs in six and a third innings, walking four and striking out six.
The Lady Vikings now own a 5-4 overall record.
