Authorities are reporting they believe Gracie Hewartson, the 15-year-old Hopkins girl who has been reported missing since last Friday, disappeared after meeting a man she had been chatting with on social media.

Hewartson, who was last seen at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, had been chatting with a man on Instagram, Gracie’s friends told her parents. They said the man had suggested her to come live with him and he would take care of her. Gracie’s grandmother said  she saw a man, with a beard, lingering and driving slowly by in a black car. It struck her as odd because most vehicles drive by at rather fast speeds.

Gracie took her birth certificate, a school computer, Invisalign braces and very few clothes.

The missing teen is characterized as having a light complexion, stands 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds and has a small build. She has short dark hair, hazel eyes and wears glasses. She has scars on both legs, mostly on her upper thighs. She was last seen wearing short white jean shorts and a black hoodie.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Craig Gardiner of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department at 269-673-0500, Extension 4454 or Silent Observer at 1-800-554-3633.
