Hopkins to celebrate the 4th all day on Tuesday

The annual Fourth of July celebration in Hopkins will be held all day next Tuesday.

Activities planned for the day and into the evening:

Morning:

8 to 10 a.m. — A free breakfast in the park.

9 to 10:30 a.m. — A non-denominational praise and worship service in the park.

11 a.m. to noon — The annual bed race downtown with registration starting at 10:30 a.m.

Afternoon:

• Noon to 3:30 p.m. — Family games and music, water balloon toss, sack races, tug-o-war & more.

• Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Pie baking contest with first, second, third places and honorable mention for both categories.Noon to 4p.m. — Baby & pet photo contest,  penny wars voting (most pennies wins),first, second, third places, and honorable mention for both categories.

• Noon to 4 p.m. — Car show.

• Noon to 8 p.m. — Bounce House fun.

• 1 to 5 p.m. — Dunk Tank

• 2 p.m. — Kids Tractor Pull.4 p.m. Kids Parade (line up at Fire Barn at 3:45 p.m.)

• 5 p.m. —Community Parade (line up behind middle school.)

Evening

• 5:45 p.m. — National Anthem sung by musicians from Sycamore Elementary, color guard presented by Boy Scout Troop #96.

• 6 p.m. — Grand Marshal, pie/photo contest winners announced.

• 6:15 p.m. — Pie eating contest sponsored by Main Street Bakery.

• 6:30to 9:00 p.m. — Music by the Fabulous Vans.

Fireworks at dusk, presented by Pyrotechnico.
