No one was injured, but authorities say this house in Hopkins Township was a total loss this morning in a fire.
Deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department indicated a generator and kerosene heater were being used in the more at the time. The homeowners said they didn’t have electricity and instead were using a generator and kerosene heater.
The fire occurred at about 5:30 a.m. at a house in the 2900 block of 18th Street not far from U.S.-131.
Two people and two dogs escaped safely from the fire. Hopkins Township Fire Department personnel extinguished the blaze in frigid temperatures below 10 degrees.
