The Hopkins varsity volleyball squad Saturday captured the O-K Silver Conference championship by winning the league tournament at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.
The Lady Vikings entered the competition with one dual meet loss this season, to undefeated NorthPointe Christian. However, they rebounded to take all the marbles Saturday.
Hopkins bested NorthPointe in the tournament finals.
The Vikings came up with straight set wins over Comstock Park (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) in the semifinals and downed NorthPointe Christian (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) in the finals.
“The Lady Vikes had big contributions from several players,” said coach Terri Wisser. “Both matches were close, but the girls maintained focus and finished each set with big plays.”
The Lady Vikes play their final home match on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the PInk Out Match. Their overall record now for the season is 31-11-4.

The Vikings drew a bye for the opening round of the post-season tournament and will play the winner of an Oct. 31 contest between Hamilton and Wayland on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Hamilton.
