Hot weather causes some cancellations and delays

How hot was it? The weather Wednesday was certainly challenging, with a heat index that went higher than 100 degrees. Some reported temps of 88 degrees, some said 92. Regardless, the dew point drove conditions to the point of being uncomfortable. However, the much-anticipated paving of South Main Street got under way (Cover Photo). The weather was so uncooperative that Martin schools officials decided to send the kids home Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Wayland’s soccer match Wednesday afternoon was called off and Wildcat cross country runners took the afternoon off.
