House in Wayland Twp. damaged severely by fire

The residential house on Fifth Street in Wayland Township suffered severe damage in a fire Tuesday, and officials said the home and its contents were a total loss. The residents were not at home at the time of the incident. The Laur family is the subject of a GoFundMe page to help with clothing, food and other contents.

The fire occurred in the 3300 block of 5th Street near Wayland. Firefighters on scene said the fire started in the garage. No one was home at the time. The fire eventually spread from the garage to the house. Both structures were destroyed in the fire.

Wayland, Yankee Springs, Leighton Township, Martin Township, Thornapple Township Emergency Services, Orangeville Township Firefighters battled the blaze on a structure, camper, and vehicle fire.
