Senior captain Hunter Brown tossed a Boys-Baseballthree-hitter to lead Wayland to a 3-1 victory Wednesday in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Hastings.

The Wildcats had lost the first game of the twin bill, whoich was postponed from Tuesday because of an all-day rain.

Brown hurled all seven innings, scattering the three hits, giving up two walks and striking out five.

At the plate, seniors Austin Page and Zach Brog both had two hits, while the rest of the team chipped in to tally eight total for the nightcap.

In the opener, despite outstanding pitching from Zach Brog, Wayland fell to the visiting Saxons, 4-3. Brog pitched 6 1/3 innings while striking out 12 and walking four.

The Wildcats led for much of the game, but a few key hits allowed Hastings to come from behind for the victory. The Cats’ offense clicked early, but the bats slowed down after the first few innings. They finished with eight hits for the game.
