Icy roads lead to a return of area school closings

Students in local school districts have spent more days at home than in the classrooms over the past couple of weeks. Icy road conditions again shut down schools and made travel hazardous Thursday, making it six days off over the past nine days. Wayland made a valiant try, at first choosing a two-hour delay, but later in the morning called the whole thing off. The Hopkins basketball teams had their makeup games against Kelloggsville postponed for a second time, this time until next Saturday so they’ll play on consecutive days. The graphic on the left was posted by Wayland school officials as an incentive for children to keep on learning during their idle time.
