Downtown Wayland Main Street Manager and DDA Director Ingrid Miller is leaving her post to take a position with Uptown Grand Rapids Inc.

Miller served as Main Street program director for four years, having taken the post here in May 2015, succeeding Sarah Najar.

A West Michigan native, she came to the Wayland area from Boston. She holds two master’s degrees, one in urban and regional planning and the other in historic preservation. She had been involved in numerous urban design and development projects with Downtown Denver.

A DDA press release four years ago stated, “Her knowledge of Main Street programs, positivity, and excitement for this position will make her a great asset to Wayland! We look forward to her arrival next week on May 4.”

Miller was charged with overseeing efforts to promote downtown Wayland as a viable economic entity and a destination. She oversaw such events as the Art Hop and the Main Street celebration, the last one being the 150th year of Wayland as an incorporated village and city.

The search for Miller’s successor has begun already. She was feted at a private Main Street party Thursday at McDuff’s Restaurant.
