Jack and the Spare Tires, with Jack Kosten, Dan Sexton and Joe Pellerito, will be the special performing guests at 6 p.m. Saturday for the next folk gathering at Vibrant Grains Restaurant, 142 S. Main St., Wayland.
Kosten and Pellerito played in a garage band during high school. After graduation, when Pellerito returned from his tour in the United States Coast Guard, they continued to perform together as an acoustical guitar duo for a few years.
Sexton honed his guitar skills while playing gigs on the east side of the state and Summers playing gigs on Mackinac Island.
Kosten and Sexton met while attending the same church and participated in a Christian Praise band. It was during that time they discovered a mutual admiration for many songs from the 1960s and early ’70s. After working on a few songs for recreation and musical growth, they asked Pellerito if he would be interested in joining them. They then became a trio and Pellerito came up with the name “Jack and the Spare Tires.”
Folk gathering organizer J.D. Gonzales said, “If you can not make the show or you know someone who should see the show but is not in the area or you are traveling out of town the weekend of the Folk Gathering, you can still see part of the show!
