james-mclochlinJames McLochlin of Wayland died Thursday morning.

He had been battling cancer, but his wife, Lynn, insisted that was not caused his death.

“The cancer didn’t get him…” she wrote on Facebook. “He had a bleeding ulcer which led to several heart attacks. The doctors worked on him for hours but couldn’t keep him here. He was ready to be free of pain and ready to go Home. My girls are taking care of the arrangements and taking care of me.”

The silver lining was that James was able to watch the Chicago Cubs win the World Series Wednesday evening.

“James had a wonderful day Wednesday with the grandsons and he even felt well enough to cook for me. Then he topped off a great day by watching the Cubs win the World Series. He was so happy… then God took him home the next morning.”

Arrangements are pending.
