The Jayda Gale Distillery at the corner of Pine and South Main streets in downtown Wayland will close its doors on Saturday, Aug. 31, after five years. Owner Ryan Levett posted on facebook this afternoon, “…as in all great stories, chapters have to end before the next one begins. That being said, I’ve made the decision to close Jayda Gale Distillery on August 31st. “The real estate is still for sale and a complete turn key establishment. If you have any questions they can be posted here or e-mail us at jaydagaledistilling@gmail.
Levett and partner Amanda Alfred purchased the former Wayland Carpet and Applicance business from Dave Mandaville in 2014 and began a five-year effort to turn the historic building into a distillery. Among the greatest challenges was securing a liquor license with a church and school nearby.
Levett earlier this summer announced the building was up for sale and there were rumors it would close at the end of the year.
