Frigmanski, who had served as vice chairman of the commission since November, succeeds J.D. Gonzales, who did not seek the position again. However, the five Planning Commission members who showed up for the Tuesday evening meeting elected Gonzales vice chairman.

Gonzales had served as chairman for a long time until a year ago, when former City Councilman Bruce Patrick, who served on the Planning Commission for only three months, engineered the election of Ron Kobish as chairman. Since then, Patrick resigned as a member of the commission and Kobish was elected to a seat on the City Council. Kobish just last month left the city to take a new job in Auburn Hills on the east side of the state.

When Kobish was elected to the City Council last November, by state law Gonzales was elevated from vice chairman to chairman. Frigmasnki then was chosen vice chairman.
