John Sloan was sworn in by Clerk Michelle Herman as Wayland’s newest member of the City Council Monday night.
A recently retired counselor at Wayland High School and former assistant varsity football coach, he succeeds Ron Kobish, who stepped down last month to take a position in Auburn Hills.
Sloan is a graduate of Hope College and served on the Wayland High School staff for many years before retiring at the end of the 2012-13 academic year.
Sloan will serve at least until the next election in November 2015, before which time he can decide to fill out the rest of the two-year term, which expires in November 2016.
