Jon Seymour wins DAR Good Citizenship Award

jonathan-seymourWayland Union High School senior Jon Seymour has been named the DAR Good Citizen for the Class of 2017.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward qualities of good citizenship.

Jon is president of the Student Council and National Honor Society, a member of PALs, served as a delegate to the Michigan Association of Student Councils and Honor Societies, member of Michigan Youth in Government, member of varsity debate team, was a student representative to the Wayland Board of Education as a junior and is currently the student representative for Wayland City Council.

A member of the Improv team and Theatriks, he also has been a WAHOO and a founding member of lmpact=Legacy.

He was elected homecoming king earlier this fall.

This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
